Manager, Software Engineering (f/m/d) - analytical device control under Windows

Our client has been setting decisive impulses and innovative accents in the areas of development, production and marketing of instruments and software for chemical analysis laboratories (HPLC - High Performance Liquid Chromatography) for years. Due to strong growth, we are looking for a Manager, Software Engineering (f/m/d) with strong communication skills and leadership experience for device driver development under Windows as soon as possible. This position offers varied and exciting tasks with a high practical relevance, so that you will always see the concrete success of your work on the product.

Your tasks.

  • Technical and disciplinary management of currently 5 software developers
  • Conception, planning, design review and documentation of instrument drivers for our HPLC systems with the data system "Chromeleon" (currently with C#)
  • Extension and maintenance of our software platforms and the associated development tools
  • Development of new product ideas as well as definition of new products in close cooperation with product management
  • Responsibility for setting and achieving development goals and project deadlines
  • Ensuring excellent product quality and its continuous improvement
  • Participation in personnel selection and development, including employee appraisal

Your requirement profile.

Training

  • A degree in science or engineering with subsequent specialization in software engineering

Experience

  • Several years of experience in software engineering in a technical environment
  • Experience with personnel management and project management, ideally in the field of R&D
  • Experience with the use of a wide range of development tools (e.g. Azure Devops)
  • Cooperation and communication with other functions and locations, in the international environment also in English

Knowledge, skills, abilities

  • Willingness to improve, process orientation and problem solving using tools
  • Structured, diligent and analytical work in a global matrix organization
  • Enthusiasm for technology with simultaneous feeling for customer benefit and economic aspects
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a high degree of initiative, commitment and acceptance of responsibility
  • Initial experience with Scrum, Azure DevOps or as a product owner is a plus
